Our Satellite Data Communication (SDC) business provides satellite connectivity to global customers such as off-shore oil rigs, UK utility networks and data links to aircraft. As Principal Pre-Sales Technical Consultant reporting to the Head of Technical Consultants in our Media Networks business, you’ll support the Head of Business Development and Sales/Account Managers within the SDC sector, focusing on oil & gas, government, utilities and maritime. Involved in customer engagement, requirements exploration and capture and solution design, you’ll prepare and deliver customer demonstrations and presentations, tailoring content and pitch accordingly. As the primary technology interface between customers’ technology teams and ours, you’ll also: prepare solution architecture designs and costs produce supporting technical documentation prepare link budget and network calculations represent Arqiva on professional industry working groups and conferences. With a degree level qualification in a technical discipline related to the communications services industry, you’ll need a proven technical track record within the SDC sector, focusing on oil & gas, utilities, government and maritime, underpinned by knowledge of the market and technological trends. Your detailed technical knowledge and understanding of satellite technology, satellite operators and third party service providers complements your awareness of good sales practice, with skills in lead qualification and identifying further opportunities. A first-class team player with the ability to grasp new technical concepts and technologies rapidly, you can also offer: a high degree of commercial awareness excellent technical report-writing, analytical and all-round communication skills flexibility and willingness to travel when required.
